Hello, everyone. You are currently viewing the layout Thaumaturge. It has been tested with and works with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. This layout is best viewed with either an 800x600 or a 1024x768 computer screen resolution. Also, it has been coded in valid HTML 4.01 Transitional and CSS.

In the process of making this layout, I continuously searched for an interesting word to describe some of my thoughts about this layout's main feature, Calintz, from Hyung-Tae Kim's Magna Carta. I thought of the words such as illusion, mirror, and magician. Taking note of the last one, I searched for synonyms and found "thaumaturge." According to Dictionary.Com, a thaumaturge is "a worker of wonders or miracles; a magician." I liked both the word and definition. They reminded me of the first time I saw Calintz, because, honestly, I had thought he looked like a young magician. Anyway, because of all that, I decided to name this layout just that: Thaumaturge!

In the beginning, I had almost no ideas as to how to start this layout out. It was a challenge, yes. I added so many things, but took out even more from this layout's project! I wanted a simple, yet, interesting, and easy-on-the-eyes look to it. I didn't want to make something that was common among layouts, but took to the standard idea of a table layout.

I wanted the content areas to look not entirely unique, but something a little more "different' that just common boxes. Also, I wanted the colors of it to go with the rest of the layout. I had so much trouble choosing the right colors! I went to the greener side of things, but then tried to find a balance between that green side and the brown side of this layout. Add, subtract, add, subtract--yes, it was like that. Continuously, unfortunately, I have to say. It took such a long time. When I considered the time, however, I thought that maybe I should just try and start another layout--one that I'd probably take a long time on, but it'll look even better than this one? At the same time, I did not want to just give up on the almost finished layout I had in front of me. So, what did I do? I finished the layout!

I added small patterns here and there so that the layout didn't look entirely plain. You can definitely notice the pattern on the navigation column's background, but not really on the content area's background... for both boxes and content background. I'm sorry if you would've liked it to stand out more, but when I was working with it in Photoshop, everything looked fine to me.

I really love the way I made the main layout banner's background--the background for where Calintz is featured. I just love effects like that. I like to call it the "metal-water look." Doesn't it have an interesting ring to it? Ha ha.

As for the navigation... I didn't want to make one big header image for it and have a whole bunch of smaller links follow. I decided to just keep all the links looking big so that it'll be easier to find them! Besides, I think they look cool~. =D

Oh, I almost forgot to comment on the other images. The other images are all of Hyung-Tae Kim, the creator of Magna Carta and War of Genesis (which are the pictures). I thought I'd add them just to add to the look of the layout--you know, have the viewers see something more than just a big banner at the top. I think they look very nice, as well. I thought that if I wasn't able to fit all of those characters along with Calintz on the layout--like, side-by-side--I might as well try to include them in equal portions.
